Here's a nice piece, and an even better reminder, on one of the chief goals (if not the chief, after technical proficiency) of our conditioning workouts:  power output.

As a plus, it's by Robyn's favorite CrossFit thinker and writer, Jon Gilson, of Again Faster.

I should have read this before I attempted "Gwen" at 70% of my 1RM and failing. Great read!

this is great. i think i probably go heavier than i should (hi connie!), with the goal of getting to the Rx weight, or as close as i can.

Just a quick note...

I think it's all right to skew a little heavier than the percentages would suggest when it comes to a workout like Gwen, the Bear, etc. since there is no time component involved.  We're not trying to go as fast as we can; we're just trying to get it finished without missing reps and keeping it together from a technical standpoint.

"The successful implementation of scaling demands a simple recognition: there are an infinite number of weights that can be loaded on a barbell, and every one must be removed from ego and firmly affixed to power."

What's not to love?  Although I think he needs to hire me to proof and edit...
