JP:  CFO Regular, James Bond Wanna-Be, and Self-Defense Instructor

Many of you have expressed interest in taking a self-defense seminar.  It just so happens that CFO happens to have a top-notch instructor who can deliver just such a seminar:  JP!

We're holding a self-defense seminar on Saturday, October 23 from 11am to 1pm.  Not only will JP be teaching the seminar, but his instructor, Ricardo Kayanan, will also be on hand.

Here's what JP has to say about the seminar:

Lydia started some interest in holding a seminar-style class geared towards self-protection for women. I'd love the opportunity to share some of the knowledge I've gained through all my years of training with my friends at CFO.

Rather than limit the class to women, however, I thought I'd see if there was interest in opening up this class to both men and women. Contrary to other women's "self defense" classes, I would show women the exact same material that I would show men. In fact, over the last month I have been involved with two separate training contracts that we ran for a federal law enforcement agency and a special operations group in the military (through Sayoc Tactical Group). Both of these contracts had women in attendance and we taught them the same material as the men, with a high level of success.

The original interest for this class came about from the thought of self protection. But many of us have families. Wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, children, etc. Self protection is incomplete without the rest of your family in the equation. While this is certainly not an exclusively "couples" training seminar, I think it would be a great opportunity for any interested couples to come in and train together. When protecting your family it is of the utmost importance to be on the same page regarding readiness. The lecture portion (the first 30 minutes) of this course, alone, will help lay the foundation for building a system of readiness to protect yourself and your family.

But what does it mean to really be ready to protect yourself? Do you know how to fight? Do even know you're about to find yourself in a fight? Are you willing to do what is necessary to protect yourself or your loved one(s)? We'll go into this in a good amount of detail.
  3. The human reflex loop and why you MUST understand how this works.
    1. Observe
    2. Orient
    3. Decide
    4. Act
  4. De-escalation Mindset - How this ties in to the reflex loop and its importance in protecting yourself.

J Pizzle is the man!

are you going to limit enrollment?  i'm hoping yes and that you're going to have to hold another class. i really want to attend but can't make it that day.

I'd love to do it but the 23rd is a horrible no-good very bad day, so I hope you will do it again!

Have another class for Sunday so I can attend!

alert the media!

Biggie is back and, after a month of self-abuse, tied a front squat PR today.

I rock!

Also, I introduced myself to the new atheletes as "Brandon Banks".

OODA LOOP! good stuff JP...this is long overdue. I've been fortunate enough to be instructed by JP and he knows his stuff. Attend if you can people...

JP - seriously hot photo.  I believe I'm in for 10/23 - possibly with hubby - will let you know.  Thank you so much for doing this!!

BB - awesome to have you back!

Newg - Peace, bro.

Everyone - Drinks at Adesso around 8:30p tonight to celebrate surviving as a cave-person.

JP - Any other weekend Lance and I would be there, but we're out of town that weekend. Let us know when it happens again!

three other things to comment on -

1. so nice to see CPeak today!

2. Tamara did something so few other people would do....just another reason why she is the schnizzle

3. Manwell wasn't there

Orrie wants to know why you are an"associate" and not a "master rank" instructor? She is so dissappointed.  When will you be giving golf lessons?

Two things:
