Diablo CrossFit Comes by for a Visit

Patrick, Stavros, Tyler, Jeremy, and Tamara after a workout this afternoon at CFO

Some of the guys from Diablo CF were in today for a friendly visit and a workout. Jeremy and I go way back; in fact, we were some of the first Bay Area CrossFitters to train at the original CFHQ gym in Santa Cruz, so it was nice to catch up with him.

In addition, we're planning on putting together a team workout for all comers at Diablo CrossFit's new gym on Saturday, January 24. We're still hammering out the final details, but other CFers from CrossFit Unlimited and CrossFit Santa Clara have gotten on board, too, so it should be a great time. And as with any CF workout, there will be scaled versions of the workout as well.

Let's get a headcount of team-workout participants in comments.

Count me in.

Horns the f*ck up. CF Diablo gets my vote for having the coolest hand symbol in the land. I'm interested in visiting their den of sin and iniquity for a workout.

sounds good - I'll likely be there.

Hey, shout out to Steve and Brian for a first and nice rest day effort, respectively.

Muscle-up and a 10x 500 row with a 1 minute rest. All at 1:50.....

I'm there.

Awesome pic on the main site, Candace.

Great job on the muscle up Steve.

Tom, that's definitely your brother from another mother. From the horns to the smile.

look at the badass bookends in that pic!

T,

Why do you wear PJ's when you coach?

Brandon, If you could see my house right now, you would understand the outfit. However, I did make a mentally note to never wear that again.

And those are Lulu Lemon training pants!!!

Tamara - "mentally note"??? You're CLEARLY still sleeping in those PJ's!

Brian - you are my rowing idol!!

Steve - Nice job on the muscle-up!!

Candace, congratulations on becoming famous yet again.

I'm in for the team thing!

Brian- You are the new row master, MJJ please step aside

Steve- nice job on the muscle-ups, those are super hard!

Candace- Awesome Pic, you look like such a stud up there!

T- Seriously, just because they come from Lulu Lemon does not mean you can pass them off as non-sleepwear. Try a little harder next time, you're better than that!

This Sunday is the Bad Girl Open- an amateur weightlifting competition which Vee, Audra and I are participating in. If anyone wants to ride down and hang out with us in Los Altos for the day, I'll be driving my big car, so I have room for about 4 more. If not, at least wish us some luck and pray no one gets seriously hurt, physically or ego-wise ;) Thanks for the support!

Awesome, Lydia. I'm psyched to hear that you ladies are competing. Let's talk because I'd potentially be interested in taking some photos. I even included my email address instead of my traditional nospam one.

Sorry Lydia I was just trying to hide my sexiness. I did not want to upstage Candace on her special day.

I'm down for the team thing.

I LIKE Tami's pants.

Brian. Seriously? Scared of you.

Candace, I forgot to get your autograph this morning but I'm showing the site to everyone here at work.

Lydia, you all should take Tom C up on his paparazzi offer because I still sort of suck with the camera. I'll be bringing it though!

p. = BAD BOY.

Megan, DAMN you were all over that offer to hang w the Diablo boys ;)

Candace = nothing short of stunning

Tami, I'm more concerned about that look on your face than what is covering your a$$

GOOD LUCK TO THE BAD GIRLS (and your coach)!

Steven and Brian - strong work. Video??

>If anyone wants to ride down and hang out with us in Los Altos for the day, I'll be driving my big car

Because I’m a team player and all around caring guy I have to give this warning out to CFO. A little back ground on Lydia’s driving skills. Recently Lydia was driving around in her ‘old’ car and played a little game of bumper cars on the freeway. She was trying to answer the question “If I take my hands off the steering wheel will I hit the guard rail?” Answer, Yes.

Also I have it from a very reliable source that one day while driving a scooter she ran in to a restaurant. Now I know what your thinking, that probably can’t be helped because as we all know restaurants can jump in front of you out of no where.

I have a feeling her hair was involved in both crashes in some way.

Good luck.

And BTW, Tami, I'm sick of you keeping that Sh#*@ under wraps. In fact, I'd like to put out a general plea for more frequent de-shirting from both genders. Brandon has been a trailblazer in this regard (and I appreciate that) but c'mon people, don't make him carry the burden for the whole gym!!

> Brandon has been a trailblazer in this regard

Please... B is the man, but when it comes to premature shirt removal (PSR), we all know who really popularized it - me. The more recent members of the gym don't know, but I have to point out that it was I who tossed off his shirt during almost every workout long before it was cool to do so, at least back when I was doing WODs. As a longtime Pennsylvania resident, Oakland is just too damn warm for me and these conditions necessitated the removal of extra clothing.

PSR is not to be taken lightly: I have two herniated cervical discs due to whipping my head around and craning my neck at odd angles in order to catch various PSR-moments around the gym.

Please, don't end up like me - take PSR seriously.

Um. Lydia?

Can we get more info on the scooter incident please?

In light of the very damning evidence that MJJ is presenting and in an effort to protect myself against anything further being presented, I am going to do like Mr. Mehserle and plead the fifth. I have no comment on any of those accusations except that you should believe half of what you see and none of what you hear- MJJ was neither present nor heard anything from me in both instances.

With that being said, I was merely trying to be nice anyways and don't really want anyone to take me up on my offer.

> Please, don't end up like me - take PSR seriously.

And there you have it - words of wisdom from the walking wounded. That almost qualifies as alliteration.

That's ok, Lydia. I'll content myself with imaginary visons of you riding a scooter with your hair flowing, restaurants be damned. Seriously, you probably looked stunning, I don't blame you for not stopping.

And I encourage anyone to join us Sunday, it is a very big car...

Two things:

1) Lance, did you start measuring your Zone Meals to Go blocks in pood? I finished a 4-blocker the other night and felt like the victim of Gluttony from the major motion picture Seven, starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.

2) A question to the coaches: Can you get hemorrhoids from high-rep GHD/Thruster/Pullup combinations? Thanks in advance for your time.

Whaaat's in the box??!!

>A question to the coaches: Can you get hemorrhoids from high-rep GHD/Thruster/Pullup combinations? Thanks in advance for your time.
JP - sooo funny. even if you're serious, in which case i'm worried for you, but still, that's ridiculously funny.

>I was merely trying to be nice anyways and don't really want anyone to take me up on my offer.
Lydia - wow. i loved reading that, it cracked me up & totally made my day. you're too much, woman! have fun this weekend. i wish i could watch/participate. bad timing.

Such visuals from today's postings!

"Almost qualifies", Tom? I know you can do better than that! Not too sure it lives up to our CFO standards. I mean....how would you like a big, heaping bowl of almost vanilla ice cream? ;-)

Candace- awesome pic. can i have your autograph on my new lulu lemon pants?

Brad, Audra, Lydia, Robyn, Leigh, thanks for the all the kind words. It is very motivating in the quest for Loren's 5K record.

Uh oh. 10k tomorrow. The regatta starts at 9:15 am.

Anyone want to join Emma & I tomorrow for the 10K run on the Nimitz Trail at Inspiration Point?

There's a good chance that I will join the team workout at Diablo CrossFit. It just depends on what time of day it ends up being.

Bonnie,

We're shooting for a 10:30am start for the DCF team workout challenge.

Brian R.: Your rowing regimen is setting a new standard!
